Memorial Day 2012

(from a Veteran)

Tomorrow we will honor our nation's ultimate defenders of freedom in services across the nation. This is one of two holidays set aside to remember our nation's
veterans, and both are appropriate days of tribute to the more than 1.5 million servicemen who gave their lives for their country and to those veterans still living who served America.

Life in the Desert

Pretty, pretty greens...my favorite color!  Always finding the best of the best in the high desert.

Use trails at your own risk...could that mean watch so you don't fall off or watch out for snakes...hmmm?!  Well, anyways the fires here in the state are in "Mop Up" status.  To the fire fighters everywhere "A job well done"!  Thousands of acres burned in the extreme high winds, very low humidity, and only 6 structures lost.

Copied a pic from the local newspaper here.  Four wild fires burning right now in Arizona!  They are all in the higher elevations where all the lush vegetation is.  The closest one is 30 miles away.

Creatures in Arizona

 Can you find the Toad?
Seen a "Horned Toad" and a "Brown Recluse Spider" today!  Yes the spider had a violin image on it...ugh!!!  My daughter Angela killed it and we had quite a time with it.  Sure glad it was dead.  Very poisonous spider...time to get the bug spray out again.  The horned toad is not really a toad but a lizard with horns on it...nothing to be afraid of.  So cute to watch it run around...sure does blend in with the landscape well.  Even seen a dead rattlesnake on the road the other day.  Sure will have to get use to the Arizona critters again after being in the mid west for almost 3 years.
